A Brief Introduction
Initially
establised in 1973 as Western Paramedical Ltd., Daltec Health Services
and it's sister companies; Wescan Health Associates (Canada) Ltd.,
Wescan Audiometric Health Ltd and Wescan Health Services (Lethbridge)
Ltd. have been providing occupational health services to the industries
of Western Canada for more than twenty years.
As a
response to the marked increase in employee, employer and government
awareness of the importance of providing safety oriented health services
in the workplace, our focus shifted from paramedical services within the
insurance industry to occupational health in the late 1970's. Daltec
Occupational Health Services and it's group of companies are proud to
have received "commendable acceptance" from Federal Government agencies,
and we continue to set the standard for our industry.
As
one of the first companies to recognize the potential benefits of
substance abuse testing in the workplace, we began offering this service
as a part of our Occupational Health program in the late 1980's.
According to a comprehensive study undertaken by AADAC and the Alberta
Occupational Health and Safety Heritage Grant Program in 1991, the costs
to the Alberta economy associated with substance use-induced worker
absenteeism is almost one half billion dollars ($500,000,000.00)
per year. It is little wonder that Substance Abuse Testing is gaining
industry-wide acceptance.
