On Site Substance Abuse Testing

This type of testing is suitable for pre-placement testing, post-accident or reasonable suspicion testing. On-site substance abuse testing uses a rapid multiple immunoassay system for qualitative detection of major drug metabolites. The test results are available to the your company within 15 minutes of testing.

Laboratory Drug Testing

Confirmation testing for on-site positive samples serves as legal documentation of the drugs being used, as well as a quantitative measurement of the drugs consumed.

Post accident testing requires that the sample be sent to the laboratory without on-site screening because the documentation provided by the lab may be used as legal evidence.

Our Medical Review Officer reviews all laboratory testing and reports all positive results to your designated company official. For all samples that test negative, results are available within 24 hours. Positive samples are tested at the laboratory and results are not available for 48 hours.

Testing Procedures

Daltec Occupational Health offers both mobile and in-office testing through most of our locations across Canada. These collections are provided by certified technicians who may provide on-site or laboratory testing or breath alcohol testing.

Reasonable Suspicion Testing For Supervisors

This course is designed for those individuals who are responsible for determining when a reasonable suspicion test should be administered. The course will instruct each supervisor on identification, documentation, approach and interaction with employees. The training package contains activities that will help supervisors to identify the physical, behavioral, speech and performance indicators of probable alcohol misuse and drug abuse. It will discuss 'reasonable suspicion' and give guidelines for approaching employees where reasonable suspicion exists.

This training course meets the US federal regulations of 60 minutes of alcohol misuse and 60 minutes of drug abuse training. The total time allotted to cover all material is three hours @ $100.00 per hour. In addition, a small room is required with a TV and VCR as well as an overhead projector.
