Daltec Occupational Health Services Inc. is pleased
to present our second MOBILE chest x-ray unit.
This completely MOBILE unit is capable of
performing 14” X 17” chest x-rays with the same quality as that
seen in clinic x-ray facilities. The unit is usually used in
conjunction with pulmonary function tests in industries where exposure
to coal dust, silica dust, grain dust and asbestos are present. It may
also be used in situations where tuberculosis is an issue.
The x-ray equipment consists of a Picker Clinix C
processor with Daylight loader and unloader. The entire patient area
of the unit is lead lined and has been inspected by Radiation Health.
There has never been scatter radiation with this type of unit and
workers are exposed to the same amount of radiation as 20 minutes in
the sunlight.
The unit is under the direct supervision of a group
of Radiologists who are responsible for quality control as well as
interpretation and comparison of the films. A Registered Radiology
Technician who is also certified as a pulmonary function technician is
responsible for performing and developing the x-rays.
The advantage of using such a facility is obvious
as it decreases the time loss while employees are waiting in our
already crowded x-ray facilities and as well both pulmonary function
tests and x-rays can be performed in approximately 15 minutes.
